First of all, when it comes to foosball, many people make the mistake of trying to hit the ball as hard as possible, without regard for direction and finesse. This is a common mistake among players, and you can see dramatic improvements in your game simply by taking your time and choosing the shots to take. Aim your shots on goal by placing the ball on either side of the striker when shooting. Try to find holes in the opponent’s defense line and then exploit them to create scoring chances.

The second skill you should focus on is the positioning of your own players. This is of increasing importance on the defensive side of the game. Try to line up your players to match the position of the opposition players, this will allow you to get good blocks and hit them on the counterattack. When defending, it is vital to always be in control of the midfield and goalkeeper rather than the attacking players. This is so you can quickly adjust and clear the ball down the field towards your attackers to create chances for yourself.

The third area to spend time practicing is ball control. Being able to maintain control of the ball and take advantage of shooting opportunities often makes the difference between winning and losing the game. Lateral passes provide an excellent opportunity to quickly switch the ball from the flank to the center for a potentially lethal shot on goal.
