Not many people realize the importance of time management, but it can change your life and your business forever. Time management isn’t just about keeping a well-organized diary and making sure you get to meetings on time. No, it is much more than that.

I cannot stress enough the importance of good time management. The reason this is so profound is because it’s not really about time management, it’s about managing yourself and your energy. It’s about making the necessary changes within yourself so that you get the most out of every hour of your day.

The first step towards effective time management requires you to get in touch with yourself and how you really want to spend your time and your life. I call this your vision. If you get in touch with this vision, it will serve as a valuable source of motivation as you move forward.

Once you know what your vision is, you can start making the necessary changes to achieve it. Invariably, you will find that to achieve these goals you will have to change the way you spend your time, and the better you do it, the faster you will reach your goals.

So after you get in touch with your vision, you realize that some things need to change, maybe even dramatically. You may realize that you are in the wrong profession and that you want to change what you do. This will require a huge but possible change for you. However, it is a change you must make if you really want to be happy.

Fortunately, for most of us, the changes we need to make are not that dramatic. But regardless of the changes required, you need to plan your days and manage your time so that all of your available hours are dedicated to working toward these goals. This is effective time management. And remember that your vision should not only consist of your professional life, but also your personal life.
