Don’t let the stress of the beach wedding turn you into Bridezilla

Are people starting to whisper Bridezilla around you a few days before your beach wedding?

OK time out! That’s what my best friend Karen told me two weeks before my big beach wedding day.

According to her, I was turning into Bridezilla. Karen and I had been best friends since childhood, so luckily for her she was able to get away with such a statement.

But deep down inside of me, I knew it was true. He was more moody than ever, conflicted and unable to sleep. Of course he was on the verge of Godzillaness.

I just wanted everything to be perfect for my day and ended up blocking other people’s suggestions. In doing so, I ended up alienating them. oh boy.

Did this create a lot of tension?

Taking a break in the last week before the wedding is a worthwhile plan. Especially if you’ve been planning the beach wedding from day one, then you really don’t want to end up crying in the bathroom that day or looking so stressed out that you end up with a frown on your face.

Everyone knows the day is all about you, but why not get away for a weekend at least for a little time away from everyone else?

This is what I did. At the end of my conversation with Karen, I decided that she was going to do things differently. I signed up for a yoga class that same afternoon.

Let’s just say he needed to learn to breathe. I then booked a spa day for myself and my two closest friends, Karen and Ashley.

But the best thing I did was take a midweek break before the beach wedding weekend. I just told myself if it’s not perfect now it’ll never get better and accepted that everything was fine. I packed a weekend bag and left.

He didn’t answer calls but checked messages in case there was an emergency. I had a wonderful time alone with no distractions or irritations, it really was time away. I took some good books, a bottle of wine and it was all the calm I needed.

Today I can say that it was worth it since I looked as cool as a cucumber on my beach wedding day.

In fact, I felt like I had hired a planner to do the whole show. As I share this experience with you, I hope you too will say the same after your beach wedding day.

Here are some ideas to ensure that you will be a beauty and not a beastly bride on your beach wedding day.

1. Take a deep breath, start an exercise program, or join a yoga class.

Exercise is one of the best ways to relieve stress after all the endorphins released are sure to keep you happy. It can also help you get a good night’s sleep. You don’t have to work out frantically in the gym.

Try some basic modifications in your daily life. For example, when looking for cake and flower vendors, check to see if it’s possible to walk from one to another, then put on your comfortable walking shoes and start walking.

Why not try a yoga class, walk the dog, or for real fun you can host a girls night out and dance the night away?

2. Enjoy lunch and a spa day with a special girlfriend.

It’s no secret that when we look good, we feel good about ourselves and people react more positively to us.

Pamper yourself and pamper yourself with a facial, pedicure, manicure, or whatever you think you need to look your best on your beach wedding day.

3.Cleaning

Don’t forget that you may need to pack if you’re moving house. Even if you’re not, why not organize things? After all, you’re starting a new life, so why not use this as an opportunity to let go of some of the things you’ve been holding on to for years?

I know very well, I am the queen of the collection. I keep everything, every receipt, every towel. Don’t worry my house doesn’t look like a trash can, I’m very well organized it’s just that I’m too sentimental for my own good.

If you’re like me, try taking your mind off the beach wedding by doing some spring cleaning. Organize your kitchen cabinets or old photographs.

Clean out your clothes closet and donate the clothes you’re not wearing. Or you might find trendy treasures you didn’t even know you had.

Best of all, you might as well burn some extra calories in one process.

4. Focus on the big picture

Remember that your wedding day on the beach is special because you are going to marry the person you love, the person you will spend the rest of your life with and that is the most important thing, everything else is trivial so do not blame for small mishaps.

Focus on what’s really important and everything else will fall into place.

I hope I have inspired you to relax.
