Eating bland, unappetizing foods is never a good idea if you can avoid them. 1. Mustard and horseradish

You can add instant flavor to your food by adding a little mustard. French and English mustards are allowed in all phases of the Dukan diet. Horseradish adds its own unique heat to the meat and is allowed during all phases as well. If you like Japanese food, wasabi, a type of horseradish sauce, and ginger are allowed. These pair very well with fish, which is why they are often served with sushi.

2. Vinegar

You can have all kinds of vinegar to use as a condiment. The most delicious vinegar, at least in my opinion, is balsamic vinegar. This adds a bittersweet flavor to salads and meats. You can add vinegar to food in all phases of the diet.

3. Pickled pickles and onions

Diced pickles and pickled onions can be added to your food for flavor and crunchiness. You can add these, considered as seasoning, during the Attack phase, but if you eat a lot, you should consider them as vegetables and eat only protein and vegetables in one day.

4. Sweeteners

You are not allowed to add additional sugar during the Dukan diet. However, if you have a sweet tooth and would like to make sweet desserts or would like to have sugar in your tea and coffee, then you can substitute sweetener for sugar. Sweeteners can be used in all phases of the diet.

5. Vanilla and cinnamon

Vanilla can be added to your food either from vanilla beans or from vanilla essence. Pods are expensive, but a couple drops of vanilla essence will cost you pennies. For sweet heat that can be enjoyed with sweet or savory dishes, cinnamon is a valuable addition to the Dukan diet. For a delicious treat, mix in half a pint of skim milk, a couple drops of vanilla essence, and add sweetener to taste. You can enjoy one of these shakes a day, even in the attack phase.
