World Cruises – Which cruise line is the most luxurious?

Silversea Cruises has built a considerable reputation for ultra-luxury and high-end quality over the past decade. Voted “Best in the World” Cruise Line for nine years in a row by readers of Condé Nast Traveler and seven years in a row by Travel & Leisure magazine, Silversea Cruises combines large ship facilities on its fleet of four intimate purpose-built vessels.

With a crew to guest ratio of nearly one to one, Silversea Cruises targets the high end of the cruise market, with staff trained by The Leading Hotel Schools of the World.

Silversea has partnered with the internationally acclaimed Grand Chefs of Relais & Châteaux group to design and offer a unique menu of signature dishes each night in its all-inclusive gourmet dining room, The Restaurant.

Unlike many other cruise lines, there is an open seating policy, which provides more dining flexibility than you may be used to on mass-market tours.

As you’d expect from the portfolio’s pricing, Silversea offers just about any leisure activity you want to indulge in. For pure relaxation, the Spa at Silversea offers a relaxing and rejuvenating sanctuary specializing in Balinese massage treatments with steam rooms, saunas and an outdoor Jacuzzi overlooking the ocean.

There are the usual wine tastings and gourmet cooking classes, as well as lectures by famous guest speakers. And to burn off the extra calories, there’s a jogging track along the entire boardwalk or a quiet pool next to the state-of-the-art gym.

But after all, the main reason to go ultra-luxury is the level of service and facilities on offer, and this is where Silversea really shines. All accommodation is arranged in suites, with ocean views from your private, furnished teak balcony.

Sitting areas, complete with walk-in closets, complement your marble bathroom and help you unwind in your large soaking tub and deluxe toiletries. Sumptuous bedding, plush mattresses and even your choice of favorite pillow ensure a good night’s sleep.

Silversea has two main ocean liners: the Silver Spirit and the Silver Whisper.

Silver Spirit entered service in December 2009 and marked a new generation in luxury cruising. Larger than the rest of the fleet, with more balconies, dining options, and onboard facilities, Silver Spirit became a popular choice for world cruises. Small enough to access remote ports but large enough to accommodate the entire crew maintaining the impeccable levels of six-star luxury for which the line is renowned.

The ship contains six restaurants ranging from contemporary international cuisine to intimate multi-course dining experiences from a tasting menu, complemented by all-inclusive fine wines.

The Spa at Silversea offers 8,300 square feet of pure indulgence with floor-to-ceiling windows, nine different treatment rooms, indoor and outdoor relaxation areas, a sauna, steam rooms, and even an outdoor Jacuzzi from which to watch the world float by. .

Silver Spirit will set sail with her 540 guests on her first world voyage in 2011, circumnavigating the globe during the 119-day world tour.

Launched in 2001, the Silver Whisper was specifically designed to provide the most intimate sailing experiences, with far fewer guests on board than even most luxury lines.

Silver Whisper has a similar high level of dining, entertainment and recreational options as her sister ship, but in a more spacious environment with fewer guests on board. There is the same open seating dining policy and three gourmet restaurants to enjoy, including custom designed tasting menus of dishes inspired by the regions you will be sailing through.

The large pool terrace has beautiful teak sun loungers, plus a heated pool and whirlpools, with attentive staff always ready when you need that clean towel and your favorite beverage.

Enrichment is a core concept on all Silversea cruises and you can enjoy lectures, workshops and demonstrations on local wine tasting and cooking that literally give you a taste of the many ports you call around the world.

Silver Whisper will begin a 115-day world cruise in 2012, taking her small contingent of just 382 passengers through tranquil Polynesian islands, wild Australian landscapes, exotic ports in Southeast Asia, to ancient Arabia, Egypt and the Mediterranean. .
