Web Development Process – Development Life Cycle

The web development process can also be categorized into different steps of the development life cycle, just like the traditional software development process. Basically, web development is the process of designing a website for the World Wide Web using various programming and design technologies.

Web development includes six processes:

Analysis:

Study and analyze the exact requirements. This can be through emails, questionnaires, interactive sessions, etc. The analysis must cover all aspects, including the existing web system and the audience.

Specification and documentation:

Create a system functionality document that captures all customer requirements in minute detail. It will create a better understanding about the system to be developed. Also mention all future requirements as well as all cost details.

Design:

This process includes the design of a small prototype or a small working model. It covers activities directed at system architecture and function flow diagrams, including detailed system specification. There may be many suggestions from the client in this process and those changes should be noted and discussed before moving on to the next phase.

Developing:

The development phase transforms the detailed design and specification into a real product through various hard code programs. It includes the integration of source code, database files, and content into a single module or product.

Testing and implementation:

It includes testing the product or product modules through various testing processes, such as load testing, cross-browser compatibility testing, resolution testing, and integration testing. It also includes page validation through the w3c consortium. The finished product is implemented and functions are carried out through the system, which is what the system is supposed to do.

Marketing and Maintenance:

Marketing is a process that involves preparing meta tags, optimizing pages based on various factors, and submitting the website to different search engines. Maintenance is the important step of the whole process. Includes frequent updating of the website to keep it current. Various bug and bug fixes will be made during the maintenance phase.

The steps mentioned above are not fixed for the web development process. It may vary according to company policy and strategy.
