The customer is the king of e-commerce

As the saying goes, the customer is always king. This is exactly the case in e-commerce. Customers are the ones who buy your product or service. It’s the customers who click on your ads. It is the customers who spread your reputation all over the Internet. Therefore, the importance of loyal customers is self-evident. However, many of us webmasters forget this fundamental fact. They are busy setting up our websites and completing various content. They are addicted to all sorts of cool online features. They are very fond of letting various advertisements appear in every corner of our sites, which could deter potential visitors forever.

But, there are rarely any webmasters who care about their customers. In my opinion, this is why only a few webmasters can succeed in finding the internet gold mine, while the majority are still struggling on the verge of giving up. Given the importance of customers to the success of any business, there are at least the following crucial questions you need to answer.

  • Who are your customers? A client of a company is any person willing to pay a price to acquire a good or service from a company. Some customers have many different wants and needs, some simple and some very complex. You need to adapt your business to meet different levels of customer demand in a pleasing way. Otherwise, they simply switch to other e-businesses that provide roughly the same portfolio of products or services but meet customer needs relatively better.
  • What matters most to them? Some customers care more about the price. Some pay more attention to standard service. There are still some others who care more about the quality or brand of their product or service. Try to understand what matters most to them, in order to deploy your business in the most appropriate way regarding their expectations.
  • How can you reach them? Choosing the right channels to sell to customers is a crucial decision. You need to know how and where customers want to buy your products or services, and the best way to let customers know about them. For some e-businesses, reaching customers is relatively easy, for example, going to boutique forums, joining a keyword-driven campaign program, among which Google AdWords is the most famous among webmasters. However, there are still some other types of e-commerce for which the way to reach customers is not very clear at first. If this is the case, you need to be more careful to implement anything. Although it is not easy to get to where your customers are, you can never skip this important one. In my opinion, in this case consulting a marketing specialist is the most efficient and effective way if you are not an expert in marketing.

In short, the customer is king. You have to make her happy before you can make anyone else happy, including yourself. Get a clear understanding of the above questions at least, and I think it will greatly decrease the chance of you regretting later for your wrong decision at the beginning and a lot of efforts that don’t ensure any return.
