Modern marriage: sanctity or caprice?

Today we have liberal laws, equal rights and freedom in many ways, which is a great thing, but in the course of achieving this liberal life, do we forget about the traditions and value of marriage? Through the times, marriage has evolved and changed a lot: in the early years there were exclusively economic marriages, then there were the stereotypical ones in which the wife stayed at home cooking and taking care of the home and the children, and then there were equal rights. , feminism and the idea of marriage changed once again. But what is a normal marriage, no one can give the only definition of how a couple should live after the most important day of their lives.

Even today all over the world there are radical views on this sacred union between a man and a woman that often leave “modern people” amazed at how old-fashioned they are. But still, if both members of the couple have the same views, it doesn’t matter if they are living as a 1940s or 1950s family or trying to achieve whatever personal goals each may have. Lately it seems that marriage has lost its meaning, we have the option to choose the person with whom we will spend our whole life but in case it turns out to be a mistake, we can always divorce and start over. This may not be a bad thing, but perhaps we have begun to make the most important decision more superficially, knowing that if it doesn’t work out, we can always go back.

There is hardly a married couple who goes through life without a single crisis. There are those who talk about their problems and those who choose to solve them by themselves without the knowledge of other people, whether they are family or friends. So those of us who know couples like this can’t help but think that the ideal marriage exists, where everything runs smoothly, or it may be the result of all the fairy tales we’ve been told as children. Whatever it is, that idea is wrong most of the time, and the sooner a couple realizes that the perfect marriage means hard work on both sides, the better.

Regardless of how you were raised or your point of view has changed over time, you should not enter into marriage just because you have to or thinking you can end it if it doesn’t work out. No matter what anyone says, every woman has dreamed of finding her prince charming and becoming a bride and every man has thought of starting a family of his own, including getting married. Sometimes along the line we forget what it’s all about and why we’ve chosen to do it, but if we stop and think about it for a second, we can rediscover the sanctity of marriage and that family is supposed to be the most important thing. . thing in life.
