Las Vegas Marriage License

Getting married in Las Vegas is as easy as pie (if you want it to be, that is). The process starts with a visit to the Clark County Marriage License Bureau. This office is open 365 days a year and can be found in downtown Las Vegas. Once the proper paperwork is filled out and a small fee is paid your wedding can take place at a chapel of your choice. Afterwards the official Clark County Marriage Certificate is mailed to you to serve as proof of your marriage.

You both must appear in person to apply for your license at the bureau, which is located on the ground floor of the Regional Justice Center in downtown Las Vegas. Couples can pre-register online up to a year in advance, which is highly recommended since it will expedite their visit to the bureau once they arrive. You will need to provide a valid government-issued photo ID for each party, which may include a driver’s license, passport or military ID card. A combination of ID verifying documents, such as a driver’s license with a certified birth certificate, are also acceptable.

The application must be completed in the presence of a staff member, who will ask you several questions. You must give your full legal name and date of birth, as well as your current address and any previous addresses in the last two years. You will also be asked about any previous marriages, divorces or annulments, including the date and city where the final decree was issued.

If you are under age 18, you must have parental or guardian consent to marry in Nevada and provide a copy of your birth certificate. You will also need a witness who is not an immediate family member to sign your marriage license in the presence of the clerk.

A las vegas marriage license is good for one year, but it must be used within 60 days of issuance. The marriage ceremony must be performed by an officiant licensed by the state of Nevada. The officiant must then file your keepsake marriage certificate with the county recorder’s office.
