I want to be models

I am asked the question “How do I get started as a model?” so many times and I have to say there is no easy answer to this.

First, are you really sure this is what you want? If the answer to this is yes, and you are at least 1.7 meters (5 feet 7 inches) tall, slim, beautiful and confident, and between the ages of 14 and 18, there is a small chance that can make it.

But you need something that works for you, in fact it is so important that you have little or no chance without it and you better give up right now and go back to your high school studies.

So what is so important that it will make or break you? The answer is quite simple, it’s your mom. Without her blessing and, indeed, her help, you’re not going anywhere, baby.

Let’s start with the law, you are a minor until the age of 18 and you cannot be photographed without the permission of your parents and you cannot attend a photo session with a photographer unless your parents or guardians are present at the session.

Now you can understand the importance of this as it not only safeguards the Model who is underage, but it also safeguards the photographer.

Upon completion of the shooting session, the parent or legal guardian must sign a ‘Minor Model Release’ form on behalf of the minor. This form is a standard document in the profession and gives the photographer and his client permission to use the photos for any required publicity purposes, in exchange for a modeling fee that has been agreed upon in advance and is payable at the end of the session. .

How do they discover you? And believe me, this is the hard part. Years ago, when I was a full-time advertising/fashion photographer, sometimes I was good enough to be found by the photographer and my opinion added some weight when the model submitted some recent photos of herself to a modeling agency, always which, of course, had all the requirements mentioned above. However, nowadays things have changed with young aspiring models posting their photos on the internet and of course many of the modeling agencies have an online presence as well.

But I know a story of a 14-year-old girl in London, who at the time had no idea that she really wanted to be a model, but in the summer holidays she was doing ‘Work Experience’ in the offices of one of the UK. fashion magazines when she was ‘discovered’ by a modeling agency representative.

Sometimes you just have to be in the right place at the right time, this of course doesn’t stop you from applying to all the major agencies, seeing as many as possible and if it’s as good as it claims to be and if they’re looking for that special look, you might be lucky. But not without some hard work, discipline and dedication.

For example, eating and living healthy, or in other words, eating correctly and going to bed early. This healthy lifestyle would also include daily exercise to keep your body fit.

Unless you dedicate yourself, when the time comes and you find you’ve put on an extra pound or two, you’ll only blame yourself if you didn’t get the job.

Last August I received an email from a 14-year-old girl who wanted to be a model. She had seen my website, read my comments about ‘I want to be a model’ and wanted my opinion on her appearance. I played again and explained that she would do some test shots in exchange for adding a page of these photos to my website.

I contacted his mom and we set up a photo meet up at my favorite beech spot, this page has now become one of the most popular on the website. I think you should take a look at it.
