How to find a niche and increase your affiliate commissions

Learning how to find a niche is a valuable skill that you must have as an Internet marketer. It is also not as difficult as it sounds. Having the ability to find a smaller market within an industry will have a very positive impact on your affiliate commissions and conversion rates. After learning how to find a niche, you will be able to focus on the specific wants and needs of your customers and deliver exactly what they are looking for.

So what exactly is a niche market? It is simply a smaller category of a larger market. We will use auto racing as an example. Auto racing is a huge market. You can divide car racing into different categories such as drag racing, stock car racing, fast car racing, and formula one racing. These are all smaller markets in auto racing, but they’re not really a niche. Let’s dive deeper using endurance racing as an example. Drag races can be divided into smaller groups, such as radial drag races and bracket races. Each of these specific types of endurance racing has its own specific needs for its type of race. These are niches within the auto racing market. A support runner needs a different team to compete than a radial drag runner would need. If you promote products aimed at a support broker, the trailing radial broker, you will not be very successful. All major markets can be broken down in the same way to find a sub-niche.

How to find a market niche with free methods

Let’s talk about how to find a sub-niche using the best free method I have found. One of the best ways to find your niche is Google’s free keyword tool. Write a broad phrase related to the market that interests you. We will use golf, for example. The keyword tool can display the term golf club. Then grab the term and put it back in the keyword tool. You can get some results like Wilson golf clubs or left handed golf clubs. Then do the same by re-inserting these words into the tool. It can turn out to be something like, left-handed women’s golf clubs. Now that’s an excellent example of a target market.

Some other ways to find your niche is to look at what affiliate networks offer. ClickBank products are good examples of niche markets. If someone went to the trouble to develop a product, it is most likely a profitable niche. Look at Amazon too. The Dummies book series is also an excellent source for locating your niche. Website directories are another method. They will have broad categories that break down into smaller and smaller categories. They practically find the niche for you.

How to find a keyword from a niche market

Once you’ve found your specific sub-niche, you’ll need to find good keywords to drive traffic to your affiliate offers. The best keywords are long-tail, niche-specific keywords. Google’s keyword tool is also great for keyword research. From our golf example above, take the niche ladies left handed golf clubs and drop them into the tool. You will likely find some good keywords to use with this method. Examples might be used, left-handed women’s golf clubs, or Wilson’s left-handed women’s golf clubs. These are long-tail keywords that also buy keywords. When someone searches for specific terms like these, they have done their research and are in the buying phase. You want to target these people!

Now you know how to find a niche, what it is, how to use free niche finding tools, and how to find keywords to increase your affiliate sales. I hope this information on how to find a niche has been useful and benefit your online campaigns.
