God is thinking of you

God is thinking of you

Sometimes a season comes in your life when nothing is working. Recently, I was spending many hours every day designing my new book. I was learning how to use a new program, but with all the difficulties I got to know it and made good progress.

Until the program started crashing all the time. Although I tried everything, I couldn’t find a solution. It was really discouraging.

More storm clouds appeared on the horizon. It’s the end of the month when you always wonder if things will go well. I was feeling really depressed.

I came across a lengthy article on where our country is headed, which made me feel even worse. As if it all became too much and I just didn’t have the strength to keep up.

I spiraled down into the black hole, wondering: Is it worth it? Why go ahead? And the net effect was that my self-image disappeared as well.

This happens in all of our lives at one time or another. We go through a season where we wonder what we are doing here and huddle in a corner somewhere feeling useless.

So somehow one cries out with the psalmist: 6Which man and woman are you upset with? Why take a second look at them?

Lord, do you know how much I’ve been wrong already? Lord, I can’t even deal with the pressure of my little world. Why would you think of this struggling soul? What keeps you from turning your back on me?

And then, the incomprehensibility of God … Instead of turning his back on us. Instead of spitting us, instead of killing us like little ants, we who are frozen, he welcomes us with open arms.

Don’t just think of us. He pays attention. He cares. He acts and, at the expense of his own Son, saves us from hell. He restores our place in heaven and places us right below the angels.

Our God is so great. He overflows with love. So how can I stay cowering in this hole? I have too much courage to allow the circumstances in which I find myself rob me of joy and peace.

Although we sometimes suffer difficulties here on earth, we must keep looking up, because we know that God loves us. Although it doesn’t make sense, it will never let us go. He will give us the strength to fight pain and suffering. He will raise our arms. It will give us wisdom to see through the fog.

Now I can face life head-on again, because God is so much greater than the greatest hardship I can suffer. He holds me in such high regard …

Holy Scripture

Hebrews 2: 5-9

Reflection

How are your circumstances?

How do you feel about yourself?

How does God see you?

Pray

Father, thank you for thinking of me. Thank you for showering me with Your works and love. I can face life again simply because I know that you are on my side. Amen.
