Frankfurt: ultra-modern city life with historical roots
While Frankfurt doesn’t have the distinction of being the largest German city, it is definitely considered the most cosmopolitan. Frankfurt is a city that also integrates natural beauty. The river Main runs right through the heart of Frankfurt, and taking a walk along the river is a great way to spend an afternoon, as it is calm and peaceful. You’ll also find that many of Frankfurt’s museums are located along the river. If you want to get some spectacular photos of the city, head to the top of the Main Tower, a 650-foot skyscraper. City Forest is a complete forest located within the city, and is a beautiful natural area with walking paths and ponds and quiet areas in which to escape from the hectic atmosphere of Frankfurt.
The Senckenberg Museum of Natural History
The Senckenberg Museum of Natural History is one of the most famous museums in Frankfurt, and for very good reason. You’ll find all sorts of interesting exhibits inside, including ancient fossils, Egyptian mummies, and a famous dinosaur exhibit with huge skeletons. The Zeil is the best place for any shopping itch. Called the “Fifth Avenue of Europe”, Zeil is the city’s main shopping street and is considered one of the best in Europe. It’s also a great place to stop and eat and people watch.
