Beware of business scams in Nigeria!

The world is full of businesses that make a lot of money but where there is money, there will be scammers out to try and swindle you out of your dollars. We all know that trillions of dollars flow in and out of a country every day as companies transact with each other in the form of imports, exports, and investments. Therefore, it is worth being careful to regret.

Trading scams can be found all over the world because the culprits operate from all over the world. The worst that can be found are in Nigeria. This is not because Nigeria has brilliant scammers. No, they do not do it. In fact, most can’t even type properly. But why can they be so noticeable with such limited creativity and resources? That’s because the country is full of scammers and the more there are, the more unhappy encounters and experiences there will be.

So why don’t people notice these scams and actually fall victim to them? This is due to a word; Greed. Greed is a feeling of wanting to have more of something you like, in proportion as it is greater than what you have had before. It also blinds you to other contradictory signs or clues that the source of the item you want is actually not legit at all. The power of greed is so great that even smart professionals will fall for them, not just once, but again and again.

Therefore, when faced with the prospect of an unrealistic business deal that promises very high returns with very little work on your part, you need to be careful about it. I am not saying that one should bypass and approve all the big deals with high margins. That would be nonsense. The advice I am trying to present is that one should always study the details and fine print carefully, no matter what deals one is involved in.

On my blog, I would like to share with you a recent scam attempt by a group of Nigerian scammers, who tried to scam my business. The tactic they use is to pretend that they want to buy a substantial amount of products from us and ask for a transaction fee before paying the full amount in cash up front. The money they want to scam us is not huge, but the strategy they use is very common and I want you to understand that the reason they still employ this strategy is because it still works.

The lure is an offer worth USD400k. Not too big to be unrealistic for my company, but tempting and attractive with big margins. This is always the same core strategy that these commercial scammers use to scam businesses and even people who are naive enough to believe the scammers. Paying a price that seems small compared to the bogus reward you are being offered.
