An inexpensive way to make money on the markets

Why sell in local markets? It is an Australian cultural phenomenon. Hundreds of people head to the markets every weekend to buy their weekly fruit and vegetables. That seems to be the main motivation for markets, as you can usually get local produce at market prices that is fresher and better than many supermarket produce that has been stored in a refrigerator for a long time.

However, with that said, there is a huge draw to the many other things that are available at your local market. You name it and you can probably find it there. What we want to talk about here is what is probably the line for you to sell at the best profit with the lowest cost to enter. Once you’ve set up your market, tables, pop-up tent, etc, all you’ll need is something to sell. One line that gets people out early is the thrift line. They know that second hand goods are a limited resource and when you sell them they disappear. I have seen people in the markets before dawn with torches to get the first selection at the second-hand clothes stall.

People seem to like to look for old things in the hope of finding a bargain. It doesn’t seem to matter what it is, as long as it’s second-hand and reasonably cheap, they’ll be there in droves to see your stall and buy. You just have to make sure you have everything clearly listed. Price stickers are available at your local newsstand, and lay them all out on your table and watch them arrive.

So where do you get your shares? At this rate it seems like you will need new stock every week and it is true. Since most markets are on Sundays, most people buy stocks on Saturdays. He gets the local paper early and by early we mean 5am. Take a look at all the potential garage sales and plot your route to inspect as many as you can before all the good stuff is gone. You’ll find that the first people at garage sales are those who buy shares to resell. I knew a couple who owned an antique store and that was their Saturday morning routine. They would make it a fun time and include breakfast somewhere. They rarely did not return home with several good purchases that they could turn into a nice profit.

You will find that many cities have a weekly auction. Sometimes this is also a Saturday, although it could be a day of the week. I have seen people there buying boxes of sundries cheaply and reselling them at a market stall on the weekend. Auctions are for cleaning things up and many of the smaller sundries are sold by the box. I have bought these sometimes for $1 a box. It’s so much fun after sorting to see what you’ve bought. Sometimes there is a real treasure but always many pieces that are good sales lines for the market. There are many lines available there. I used to see a guy buy boxes of old LP records very cheaply and clean them up and sell them for a good profit on the market. One of his hobbies was repairing old clocks and he used to buy many at auctions. Once he refurbished them, they sold well at his market stall. After several years of this, he was able to buy a nice little coffee shop business with the profits from the market.

there you go Some ideas for you to earn some money. Let yourself be caught because it can be a fun time. Accept maybe when you get to your market and it starts to rain, but that’s part of it. enjoy Nick
