Always carry a book with you

Always carry a book with you

According to one of the most important surveys carried out in the USA, where data was taken from all over the world, an average human being is likely to spend 4 years going to and from the workplace, 3 years opening spam emails and another 6 years in one. or the other queue (either online or physical), waiting for its turn. This increased to an amazing 13 years of your life !!

Now, assuming that the average lifespan of an individual is 80 years, half of which (that is, 40 years) are dedicated to performing compulsory life activities such as sleeping, etc., what it effectively means is that they are spending approximately 1/3 of his life (13 of the 40 productive years available) in an absolutely unproductive way. When I first heard this, I was shocked. Later, I realized that this is not surprising at all. It has been a known fact for centuries that success lies in knowing such subtle aspects of life that they go unnoticed by any average human being.

We learn a lot about the success of such “little” things in life from one of our previous posts: Big things will happen if little things are done right.

With these surprising facts in mind, one of the simplest and most powerful time management strategies you can implement is to always carry your favorite book with you, be it a hard copy or a hard copy on your favorite MP3 player or handheld. While others wait in line or in traffic and complain, you are hooked on the wisest knowledge available around the world and feed your brain directly to the best possible ideas.

Abraham Lincoln once said:

Books serve to show a man that those original thoughts of his are nothing new.

That’s so true. Imagine what kinds of ideas the books can offer you. I have a habit of always having a book in my bag just for that unproductive overtime. I always have some MP3 audiobooks or motivational speeches on my mobile, which I listen to as I commute to and from the office.

They already had a huge impact on my life. As I went through my journey to financial freedom, I read over 500 books in less than 2 years (almost one book every day). I can’t explain enough to you the value this book reading habit added to my journey. It is something difficult to explain, but I can relate that these books helped me in every phase of my journey, starting with maintaining my momentum, giving me new ideas and even inspiring me to write my own book (From Rat Race to Financial Freedom). These stores of wisdom helped me whenever I was in a bind. Almost everything I accomplished on this trip is courtesy of these books that I read. If you ever visit my house, I will be happy to show you a room full of books. I still feel like I need more.

As an old famous saying goes:

The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who cannot read them.

However, I hardly see many people in the habit of reading good books after completing their formal education. On the other hand, all you need is a great idea for a great book to transform your life or reshape your character. How successful you are in life will not depend on how hard you work, but on how well you think. And what can be a better source of ideas and thought patterns than a well-written book? The person you will be 5 years from now will be determined by two main factors: the people you associate with and the books you read.

I remember playing badminton when I was 10 years old. I was just an average player. But whenever I had the opportunity to play someone who was superior to me (in badminton skills), I would always come up with those special shots and shots that made me proud of my game. What changed when playing with a more skilled player? I was the same, my knowledge about the game was the same. It’s just that now he was involved with someone better than me. This participation just elevated my entire game. It is precisely the same thing that happens when you read books from the brightest minds in the world. You will see your thinking and generating ideas renewed and you begin to rise to a whole new level of wisdom.

Many of the wisest and most knowledgeable greats on this planet are ready to share their deep knowledge and experience with you, through their books. Why not sixteen this chance? It is up to you to find the next book at the nearest bookstore and make a difference to yours. life.

Nothing can do what a book can do. It takes you out of your life … into a whole new world, a whole new perspective. A book is like a dream that you are borrowing from a friend.

Happy reading
