Alimentary canal disorders and digestive system syndromes
Cleft lip is a malformation resulting from the failure of the upper and middle nasal processes to fuse together during embryonic development. Cleft palate is a cleft in the midline of the palate that results from the failure of the two sides to fuse during embryonic development.
Physical evaluation
Perform a physical routing assessment. Inspect the palate, both visually and by placing your fingers directly on the palate. Observe feeding behaviors
Nursing care plan
1. Provide adequate nutritional intake
2. Modify feeding techniques to accommodate the defect (feeding in a sitting position, using special devices, encouraging frequent bubbling, assisting with breastfeeding if the method of choice)
3. facilitate family acceptance of the infant, allow the expression of feelings.
Stomach-intestinal bleeding
The cause of bleeding depends on the age of the child, in infants – hemorrhagic diseases; in young children-surgical conditions (intussusception, hernias); in young children (3-7 years): acute infectious gastroenteritis, diverticulitis; schoolchildren-peptic ulcer, erosive gastritis.
The main symptoms are;
• vomits blood or coffee, always contains food particles
• blood in the stool or melena (black stools)
• bleeding from the lower intestine is characterized by unchanged blood or blood clotting in the stool
• in case of great blood loss, the general condition of the child soon worsens: filiform pulse, tachycardia, paleness due to acute anemia, weakness, low blood pressure.
Medical care
Hospitalize the child immediately
Keep the child calm
Put an ice ball on the abdomen.
Administer hemostatic therapy if prescribed: 10% calcium chloride solution, 1% vicasoli, 12.5% dicinoni, 5% Acidi ascorbinici solution.
