Abs Training 101 – The Best Exercises For A Great Set Of Abs

For an effective abs workout, you should have on hand the best exercises that will ensure flat, lean and sexy abs.

Lots of people waste time with the wrong ab exercises that aren’t even that effective. If you are one of them or you just don’t know what to do anymore, check out these 5 abs exercises, they will all make sure your tummy gets leaner and firmer.

Weight training

Weight training is one of the best exercises to burn fat. It’s so good because it speeds up your metabolism and helps you burn more calories and fat at rest. Total body weight training will help your body become lean and toned and will also increase your lean muscle mass.

For best results, you should aim to do at least 3 weight training sessions a week. And remember to focus on upper and lower body exercises.

interval cardio training

The number one cardio exercise for burning fat is interval cardio training. All it takes is 20-30 minutes 2-3 times a week and you will start burning fat and it will only be a matter of time before your abs start to show.

pilates and yoga

Pilates is great for firming and defining your core (lower back, abdominal, and hip flexor muscles) and will give you a firm, toned tummy.

Yoga, on the other hand, helps relieve stress. The importance of Yoga is that stress can cause excess fat to be stored in the belly, and Yoga helps prevent that.

Kickbox and other aerobics

Kick-box aerobics are also great for toning your core and burning calories. Any other aerobic exercise is excellent for burning calories and fat.

Specific exercises for abs

I mention specific ab exercises last because while they may be important for getting a toned and firm tummy, they are not the most important ab training exercises for flat abs out there.

However, you should include specific ab exercises along with your cardio and/or weight training for best results. The best abdominal exercises to do are: the bicycle movement, plank and crunches.
