PLACES OF FAME
Vienna, the capital city, has places to amaze you from natural beauty like Wienerwald to man-made architectural wonders like palaces and churches. If you plan a visit during the summer, meet the locals at their Arena, an artificial beach that is created every year. Otherwise, a day can be spent at the Prater amusement park. From its popular giant Ferris wheel, enjoy the amazing view of the city. Not to get lost in the Prater, there is the recently built Madame Tussauds wax museum. If you’re in the orchestra, head to the Vienna Opera, an abode of the famous Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
Schönbrunn Palace It is the homeland of Emperor Franz Josef, as well as the summer residence of the Habsburg family. Lately, it is part of the UNESCO cultural heritage due to its historical importance. This baroque complex has an attractive park, the Palm House, the Gloriette and a zoo.
The Hohensalzburg Fortress is the brilliant and powerful landmark of Salzburg, the city of Mozart. This castle is a silent illustrator of the Catholic archbishops who ruled Salzburg until the late 18th century.
Tea Grossglockner Alpine Road It is the connection between the two states of Salzburg and Carinthia, leading to Austria’s highest mountain, the Grossglockner (3,798 m) and its iceberg, the Pasterze. This 48 km journey with 36 curves through incredible mountain roads is a once in a lifetime experience.
Climb the Schlossberg and see Graz’s landmark, the Uhrturm (clock tower), which dates back to the 13th century.
Designed by artist André Heller in 1995, Swarovski Crystal Worlds (Kristallwelten) a museum of modern art and its accessories are motifs of crystals, colors and light. It houses many creations of famous artists. Beneath its magnificent Crystal Dome, you can witness some incredible performances at the Crystal Theater.
Located in Werfen 40 km south of Salzburg, the Eisriesenwelt, is a natural limestone cave. With an area of more than 42 km and an astonishing underground world of creations and effigies of natural ice, this is the largest cave in the world. Entry is allowed from May to October.
Tea lookout, designed by baroque architect Lukas von Hildebrandt, is a must see. It was originally built as a summer palace for Prince Eugen von Savoyen. Its museum houses the world’s largest Gustav Klimt collection along with the creations of other artists such as Egon Schiele and Oskar Kokoschka.
Krimml Falls, a 380-meter high three-tiered waterfall, is the largest in Europe and a delight for photographers.
Gastronomic ravine
Austria offers a variety of lip-smacking pleasures.

• Tafelspitz, or boiled beef served with potatoes and horseradish, is a famous Viennese dish served on Sundays with herbed meatballs.

Before taking off from Vienna, you must take a look at Steffl and Ringstrassen Galerien, two renowned places for luxury clothing. For antique lovers, visit the market in Am Hof Square, which is held on Fridays and Saturdays. The farmers market in Freyung is an eye-catching place to trade handicrafts, specifically during Christmas. A flea market on Naschmarkt, takes place every Saturday and can be tried for various unusual and wonderful decoration items. High quality local handicrafts, is the specialty of Innsbruck Y Salzburg.
