True story, letters from Santa Claus changed the life of a girl

You should have seen her eyes sparkle when we got the mail today. A letter with images of candy canes and Santa Claus all over it, just for her. She was now eight years old and getting older. We didn’t know how long her Christmas magic would last, but with this, it could be another year.

All the kids at school teased her for continuing to believe in Santa, and although she had many questions, she still held on to her beliefs. She defended him as if she were a close personal friend and I think that through her difficult times when she was a child, she could have been. Because her eyes always lit up at the mention of him and this was a time of year she really looked forward to no matter what her life brought her.

You see, this girl was only eight years old, but the world had already been taken from her. Her parents had separated from her and her mother abandoned her and she was now in the custody of the state. Her grandmother loved her very much, but she was too old to take care of her. Her condition would not allow it even though he fought so hard for her. She was now lost in the system and only her father could save her and she was nowhere to be found.

She was a sweet girl. You could see in her eyes that there was still hope for a day when she wouldn’t bother about growing up too fast. Where she could have a family of her own and could really turn things around.

There was a special woman in his life and he thought this letter from Santa might do the trick to lift her spirits this year. And she could see that it worked when she delicately took the letter from her hand. She showed it to him and said, “Look, it came from the North Pole!” The emotion on her face was priceless. She was back to being a normal girl and all her difficulties were disappearing right here, at this moment. She opened it and exclaimed, “Look, he’s real! I just knew it!” With letters from Santa Claus, any child could recover his youth and this seems to be the perfect remedy.

Look, this girl was me and even though I am now an adult with a family of my own, I still remember that day when that kind lady thought of me. At that moment, I knew things were going to get better. All I had to do is believe.
