Audio streaming for WordPress
Audio streaming is an underused tool that can improve communication between you and your customer. WordPress has a few plugins that make it easy to add audio to your website. When we take a closer look, you’ll see how easy it is to add audio to any page on your website.
The biggest problem most people face with audio is actually making the audio. Fear of the microphone and inexperience of talking to your computer scare some people to death. The good news is that technology has made recording your message very easy and inexpensive, and when it comes to recording a message, this just takes practice.
Like everything that is new and out of your comfort zone, recorded audio falls into that category. There is also a quality issue, once again the good news is that a $ 40.00 mic is good enough quality to make an acceptable recording.
There is a large amount of free software that you can use to make basic recordings. Even Microsoft has a basic recorder built into the operating system. I have tried both and prefer the free versions that you get online.
These free versions offer an update that you can use to edit your recordings. If you start to record a lot of audio, the editing software will pay off. If your recordings are 5 minutes or longer, and you mess up towards the end, editing software will come in handy.
There are some basic plugins that are free and work well for streaming audio. As you may know, if your recording is more than eight MB, you need to find an external hosting for your audio files.
I found Amazon storage to be extremely reasonably priced and reliable for your audio storage and needs. Amazon uses the words bucket instead of what we commonly know as files. When you get used to the different terminology they use, everything else is pretty straightforward to connect.
I think you will find audio much easier to use compared to video and cheaper. There are other benefits of offering audio to your readers, such as the ability to download it and burn it to CD. When I join a webinar, I rarely watch the video, but I always enjoy listening to the audio.
Don’t underestimate the value of having audio on your website.
